Canon EOS R5 is rumoured to release a firmware update with C-Log3 and Full HD 120fps, in addition to lower bit rate options in RAW as well as IPB in all frame rates and codecs. So the question; Is Canon about to add 120fps in 1080p and lower bit rate options in 8K to the EOS R5?
The Canon EOS R5 (Amazon, B&H, Adorama) supports high-resolution DCI 8K 30 fps raw video recording internally along with 4K recording up to 120 fps in 4:2:2 10-bit with Canon Log, as well as up to 20 fps burst shooting with an electronic shutter and up to 12 fps with a mechanical shutter.
Of course, 1080p / 120 was a feature that should have already added at the time of the EOS R5’s announcement. Think about it, the more budget friendly Canon EOS R6 supports Full HD / 120fps. It’s amazing that the EOS R5 is capable of 4K/120fps, but can’t it do 120fps at 1080p? As of now, EOS R5 specs officially only list 1080p / 60 support as maximum frame rates in Full HD.
