Sony Announced Major Firmware for a9 & a7R III & a7 III

Sony announced major firmware updates for the Alpha A9A7 III and a7R III camera.

The a9 updates adds a range of features, including improved tracking in both stills and video, as well as extending Eye AF to animals, something Sony showed at Photokina back in September. The a7R III and a7 III will also gain the improved Eye-AF and animal Eye AF, as well as time-lapse capabilities.

The a9  (Amazon/B&H Photo/Adorama)  firmware updates will be coming in two waves: version 5.0 will be available in March while version 6.0 is slated for ‘summer.’ Firmware version 3.0 for the a7 III and a7R III will arrive in April. You can see the full details below. Sony A9 Firmware 5.0 Real Time Tracking Video

Sony A9 firmware 5.0 will be available from March. Patrick Murphy-Racey has posted a Youtube video showing the tracking feature. The new tracking feature is already inside the Sony A6400 bodies that will start shipping in February of 2019.

From the video, we can see that the Sony A9 (Amazon/B&H Photo/Adorama) has an impressive read time tracking with this firmware 5.0. Check it out.

Nikon to add Eye AF, Raw video and CFexpress support to Z6 and Z7 Cameras

Nikon has announced that new firmware update for Nikon Z6 & Z7 full frame mirrorless cameras is coming soon.
