Nikon Z50 Mirrorless APS-C Camera Officially Announced

Nikon introduces the Z50, a DX-format APS-c mirrorless camera for Z-mount. The Nikon Z50 features a 21MP BSI CMOS APS-C sensor (similar to what’s on the D500) with on-sensor phase detection. Unlike the Z6/Z7 the Z50 does not have in-body image stabilization.

Nikon Z8 Rumored to Feature 60MP Sensor and 16-bit NEF Files

According to a leaked screenshot of a new camera manual, Nikon will announce a new mirrorless camera that features 60.8MP (9552×6364) sensor which is able to shoot 16-bit RAW NEF files (Nikon will introduce a lossy compressed RAW codec to reduce the file size). The previous rumors claimed that the IMX455 Sony 61MP sensor which is already used on Sony A7R IV will be on the next Nikon full frame mirrorless camera. Possible candidate for this sensor is the Nikon Z8.

Back in April 2019, we reported that both Nikon D860 and Nikon Z8 cameras might use 60MP IMX455AQR Sensor from Sony. The Sony IMX455AQR sensor features 60MP, 8k video, and offers native 64 ISO. It’s being said that the Sony 60MP sensor PDAF is supposed to be better than the Multi-CAM 20000 currently used in some Nikon cameras. See Sony A7R IV specifications. The additional roadmap fills in almost all of those TBD blanks in the previous Nikon Z mount lens roadmap. Continue reading “NIKKOR Z 16-35mm f/2.8 Lens Patent”
