The new OM System OM-5 camera to be announced in late October and not in September due the chip shortage. The new release date is late October and the shipments expected to start in November. The simple reason for this is the ongoing worldwide chip shortage. Meaning that the OM Digital needs a bit more time to produce enough OM-5 bodies.
According to latest Olympus rumors here are the OM System OM-5 specifications leaked so far;
According to Olympus rumors, new OM Digital OM-5 camera to be announced soon with 41MP BSI live-MOS Sensor (total 47MP). The Micro Four Thirds camera will be capable of high-speed continuous shooting at 20 frames per second.
OM SYSTEM OM-5 is expected to be announced in July / August 2022, and it is rumored that it will not be the successor to the current “OM-D E-M5 Mark III“. This information is coming from several sources on the Chinese social media platform Weibo and from previous reports.
But there will be more new MFT cameras announced in 2022. We’re collecting detailed information on those new models, but if Panasonic Lumix GH6 (B&H, Adorama) and OM SYSTEM OM-1 ($2,199.99 USD at B&HPhoto and Adorama) are too expensive for you, you should wait for the next camera.
We don’t know if it’s Panasonic, OM-D’S, or both, but it seems likely that some kind of Micro Four Thirds camera will come out later this year. Even the details of the new model is unknown at the moment, it seems that we may expect the successor to Panasonic G9 and Olympus E-M5 Mark III.

There is also a big fly in the ointment: according to our data, the price of the novelty will be “more than $ 2,000″ , and in Russia – about 200,000 rubles, which is unlikely to please fans of the system …”
