List of Rumored Nikon Mirrorless Cameras and Lenses

For the rest of the 2020, Nikon is planning to release several new mirrorless products. Here are the list of rumored Nikon mirrorless cameras and lenses.

New Nikkor Z lenses

  • Nikkor Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3: this will probably be the new kit lens for the upcoming Nikon Z5 camera. It will be a small, light, compact (almost like a pancake), cheap plastic lens with a collapsible design similar to the Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm.
  • Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S lens: a massive, solid lens with a lot of glass elements inside – similar in size to the Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S. The 50mm f/1.2 lens may also have the Noct nomenclature (Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.2 S Noct lens).
  • Nikkor Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S lens: smaller and lighter than the F mount version, the lens can take screw-in filters. New info: 105mm filter thread. Not confirmed for July 21 release.

Breaking : Nikon Z7S & Z6S Mirrorless Cameras Coming in Late 2020

According to recent reports, Nikon is planning to announce the new Nikon Z7S and Nikon Z6S mirrorless cameras later this year. Official announcement date is expected around October 2020.

Nikon Z5 & Z30 Entry-Level Mirrorless Cameras Coming Soon

Nikon Z30Nikon Z5 are the two entry-level mirrorless cameras which is rumored to arrive soon.

Nikon Z30 will be a basic APS-C mirrorless camera with no EVF. On the other hand Nikon Z5 will be an entry-level full frame and position under the Nikon Z6. This camera is the one that will compete against the Canon EOS RP.

Nikon N1936 Battery Pack Registered in Russia (For Nikon Z8 ?)

Nikon has registered a new battery pack N1936 with the Russian certification authority.

We already published details about the high-end Nikon Z8 full frame mirrorless camera that s rumored to have the same Sony a7R IV‘s 61MP full frame CMOS sensor, dual SD and CF express cards slots, a fully functioning vertical grip, pro body. It will be more expensive than Nikon Z6 and Z7.

Nikon Z8 and D880 Rumored to Feature 60MP Sony IMX455 Sensor

Both the upocoming Nikon Z8 and D880 full frame cameras are rumored to feature 60MP Sony IMX455 sensor.

According to latest rumors, Nikon is  rumored to announce a new high-end/professional Z-mount full frame mirrorless camera in 2020.  The name of this high-end/professional full frame mirrorless camera would be Nikon Z8, which has been in the rumor mill for a long time.

The Nikon Z8 will feature the 60MP IMX455 sensor found in the Sony a7R IV. The Z8 body to have dual CFexpress card slots and a vertical grip. It will be more expensive than Nikon Z6 & Z7. The release date for Nikon Z8 camera will be in late 2020.

So what’s next for Nikon. The upcoming Nikon D880 (Replacement of D850) is expected to arrive after the Z8 announcement. According to rumor mill, we’ll see the D850 replacement in early 2021.The high-resolution DSLR will also feature with 60MP IMX455 sensor from Sony a7R IV. Nikon Z8 Rumored to Feature 60MP Sensor and 16-bit NEF Files

According to a leaked screenshot of a new camera manual, Nikon will announce a new mirrorless camera that features 60.8MP (9552×6364) sensor which is able to shoot 16-bit RAW NEF files (Nikon will introduce a lossy compressed RAW codec to reduce the file size). The previous rumors claimed that the IMX455 Sony 61MP sensor which is already used on Sony A7R IV will be on the next Nikon full frame mirrorless camera. Possible candidate for this sensor is the Nikon Z8.

Back in April 2019, we reported that both Nikon D860 and Nikon Z8 cameras might use 60MP IMX455AQR Sensor from Sony. The Sony IMX455AQR sensor features 60MP, 8k video, and offers native 64 ISO. It’s being said that the Sony 60MP sensor PDAF is supposed to be better than the Multi-CAM 20000 currently used in some Nikon cameras. See Sony A7R IV specifications.
