Panasonic GH6 Rumored to Feature Phase Detection Autofocus

According to latest rumors, the Panasonic GH6 sensor will feature phase detection autofocus. The camera will have a Hybrid AF system. However we don’t have details about the number of AF points that GH6 will feature.

Venus Optics Announces Laowa 7.5mm f/2 MFT Lens with Automatic Aperture Control

Venus Optics has announced an updated version of its Laowa 7.5mm f/2 Micro Four Thirds (MFT) lens that has electronic aperture control.

This lens is currently the widest rectilinear lens available for Micro Four Thirds. It gives a field of view equivalent to a 15 mm lens on 35 mm sensors. This allows MFT users to enjoy an impressive 110° ultra wide angle of view for a broad range of shooting.

The new lens features the same optical construction as its fully-manual predecessor (13 elements in nine groups), but adds an electronically-controlled aperture at the cost of reducing the number of aperture blades to five.

Designed for the MFT system, Laowa 7.5mm f/2 lens with electronic aperture control costs $549. Venus Optics lenses are sold atAdorama and B&HYou can view a gallery of full-sized sample images on Venus Optics’ Flickr album.

New Micro Four Thirds Camera : Olympus PEN E-P7

OM Digital Solutions has announced the Olympus PEN E-P7 Micro Four Thirds mirrorless camera.

The Olympus PEN E-P7 is a new mid-range Micro Four Thirds System camera that combines a class design with powerful photographic features such as Colour Profile Control, a 20 megapixel Live MOS sensor and in-body 5-axis image stabilisation.

It’s the first full-sized PEN model since the PEN-F, released in January 2016, but it appears to be more affordable and less prestige-focused than the E-Px models.

Price and Availability

The Olympus E-P7 will be available from mid-June 2021 in two colour combinations, white & silver or black & silver, as body only priced at £749 or as a kit with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ lens for £849.

Olympus Unveils M.Zuiko 8-25mm F4 Pro Micro Four Thirds lens

Olympus unveiled a new wide-angle zoom lens to its ‘Pro’ lineup of high-end Micro Four Thirds lenses: the M.Zuiko Digital ED 8-25mm F4 Pro.

This is Olympus’ first collapsable Pro lens, and its 411 gram (14.5 ounces) weight makes it easy to carry around.

The 8-25mm PRO has a 35mm-equivalent field of view of 16-50mm and an F8 equivalent aperture. The lens has numerous special elements, including a ‘DSA’ (dual super aspherical) element to reduce sagittal flare or comatic aberration (commonly referred to as ‘coma‘). A special ‘ZERO’ coating helps prevent flare and ghosting.

The 8-25mm PRO has a minimum focus distance of 23cm (9.1″) across its focal range, and a maximum magnification of 0.42x on its telephoto end. A clutch on the lens barrel makes it easy to switch between auto and manual focus.

The M.Zuiko Digital ED 8-25mm F4 Pro will be available in July for $1099.
