OM SYSTEM OM-5 Officially Announced, Price $1,199

OM SYSTEM OM-5 mirrorless camera is now officially announced. he OM-5 is a smaller, lighter alternative to the OM System OM-1 for content creators whose primary interest is an outdoor pursuit like walking or climbing, while the OM-1’s target market is dedicated photographers and videographers.

Compact, lightweight, and durable, the OM SYSTEM OM-5 mirrorless camera is suitable for both still pictures and video capture. Even though its body is the same as the older OM-D E-M5 Mark III, its processing has been improved so that it can use computational photography features that were only available on more expensive cameras before.

The OM SYSTEM OM-5 will be available for $1,199.99 body-only and $1599.99 with the 12-45mm f/4 PRO lens as a kit.

Olympus OM-D E-M1X Listed as Discontinued in Japan

The Olympus OM-D E-M1X Micro Four Thirds camera is now listed as discontinued at some Japanese stores. And some stores in other countries in Europe and the United States also seem to be discounting and clearing inventory. Maybe OM has plans to develop its successor.

On the other hand there are some talks about the successor to the E-M1X. Even it is too early to talk about but the possible E-M1X Mark II coming in the first months of 2022.

According to latest Olympus rumors, the upcoming OM SYSTEM OM-5 mirrorless camera will be priced around $1599. This is not the final pricing yet, but OM Digital has told retailers that it could be this price.

In addition, a new OM SYSTEM lens will come along with this OM System OM-5 mirrorless camera.

Panasonic LUMIX GH6 Firmware v2.2 Announced, Support Direct SSD Recording over USB

Panasonic has just announced its latest software update for the LUMIX GH6. The GH6 firmware v2.2 adds an exciting feature. You can now record directly to a connected SSD via the camera’s USB interface. Firmware v2.2 will be available for download on September 27.

With the new GH6 firmware v2.2 it becomes possible to record high-quality, low-compression Apple ProRes 422 HQ (Maximum 1.9Gbps) or high-bitrate, large-volume 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra directly onto a SSD (2 TB max). New OM System OM-5 Camera to be Announced in Late October

The new OM System OM-5 camera to be announced in late October and not in September due the chip shortage. The new release date is late October and the shipments expected to start in November. The simple reason for this is the ongoing worldwide chip shortage. Meaning that the OM Digital needs a bit more time to produce enough OM-5 bodies.

According to latest Olympus rumors here are the OM System OM-5 specifications leaked so far;

Panasonic GH6 firmware update adds 4K 120p raw video output over HDMI

Panasonic has announced new firmware for the GH6 that will add raw video data output over HDMI in DCI 4K at up to 120fps, as well as more internal recording options.

Panasonic has announced new firmware will become available for the Lumix GH6 on July 5, 2022.

Panasonic GH6 Firmware Version 2.0 will bring ProRes RAW recording at frame rates of up to 119.88p in DCI 4K and 59.94p in 5.7K when the camera is tethered to the Atomos Ninja V+. The original Ninja V only supports up to 59.94p in DCI 4K and 29.97p in 5.7, so the newer V+ is needed for the higher frame rate options. Anamorphic shooters will get ProRes RAW 4:3 in 5.8K at up to 29.97p and 4.4K at up to 59.94p with the Ninja V+, or 5.8K-A up to 25p with the original Ninja V.
