Sigma fp L Firmware Update Version 2.00 Released

Sigma released the new firmware version 2.00 for the Sigma fp L mirrorless camera.

[Benefits of the update]
Ver.2.00
・It adds the “False color” function where the exposure status on the screen is displayed in different colors, allowing users to easily see the exposure status of any part of the frame.
・It adds the “Focus Ring Control” function that allows users to change the movement of the focus ring to either linear or non-linear.
* 1 Only for compatible lenses.
* 2 To use this function, it is necessary to update the firmware of the compatible lens to the latest version.
・It adds the “STILL / CINE Link Settings” function that allows users to select whether or not they want to link key exposure settings between STILL and CINE modes.
* The following settings are affected: Shooting Mode, Shutter Speed, Aperture, Exposure Compensation, ISO Sensitivity
・It allows the “Screenshot” and “False color” functions to be assigned to “Custom button functions”.
・It changes the specification so that the countdown before a shot in self-timer mode (2 seconds and 10 seconds), and the exposure time for long exposures (bulb shooting and exposures of 1 second or longer) are displayed on screen.
・It adds a function available in STILL mode where information from the attached lens (focal length and shooting distance) can be displayed on screen.
・It adds a “Clip Numbering” function in CINE mode that allows users to change the clip numbering of the “File name / Number” in the “SYSTEM” menu.
・It improves the correction algorithm for Color Shading Correction.
・It improves the operation of “Pre-AF” in STILL mode and “Constant AF” in CINE mode.

Canon EOS R5C Announcement on January 19, 2022 ?

Canon will announce a new cinema camera on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. It is rumored that this camera will be the Canon EOS R5c.

This Canon EOS R5C is a video-oriented version of the Canon EOS R5 with a number of upgrades – including unlimited 8K30P recording in Cinema RAW Light, an active cooling system for “unlimited 8K 30p”, the 21-pin Mult-Function Shoe debuted on the Canon EOS R3, a full-size HDMI port and the Canon Log 2 profile. The price is still unknown, but it is said to be considerably cheaper than the Canon EOS C70, which is currently priced at $5499 USD.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.00 to 1.10

• Increased the burst length for dual-format (NEF/RAW + JPEG or JPEG + JPEG) pictures taken at 20 fps in continuous high-speed release mode.
- “C” firmware version 1.00:
  - – NEF/RAW (high-efficiency★) + JPEG basic (large): Approx. 3 seconds ^*
  - – JPEG Slot 1 – JPEG Slot 2 (Slot 1: JPEG fine (large); Slot 2: JPEG basic (small)): Approx. 3 seconds ^*
- “C” firmware version 1.10:
  - – NEF/RAW (high-efficiency★) + JPEG basic (large): Approx. 8 seconds ^*
  - – JPEG Slot 1 – JPEG Slot 2 (Slot 1: JPEG fine (large); Slot 2: JPEG basic (small)): Approx. 8 seconds ^*
* The length of the burst that can be taken before the frame advance rate drops. Figures are reference values obtained via in-house measurements performed using a NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens and a ProGrade Digital COBALT 1700R 325GB CFexpress memory card. Burst length will drop in some circumstances, including if:
- – Backup is selected for Role played by card in Slot 2 or
- – ON is selected for Auto distortion control.
• Options highlighted in the Filtered playback criteria list in the PLAYBACK MENU can now also be selected and deselected by pressing the multi selector right.
• Fixed an issue that prevented optional SB-5000 flash units synchronizing with the shutter when all the following conditions were met:
- – A shutter speed faster than the flash sync speed was selected with 1/200 s (Auto FP) or 1/250 s (Auto FP) chosen for Custom Setting e1 Flash sync speed in the CUSTOM SETTINGS MENU.
- – The SB-5000 was controlled via radio AWL using an optional WR-R10 or WR-R11a wireless remote controller mounted on the camera.
- – The flash unit was not mounted on the camera accessory shoe.
