Olympus released a new firmware update for the three flagship MFT cameras. Version 3.2 for the OM-D E-M1 Mark IIVersion 1.2 for the OM-D E-M1X and Version 1.1 for OM-D E-M5 Mark III now available for download.

Specifically designed for the professional models in the OM-D series, the OM-D E-M1 Mark II, E-M5 III and OM-D E-M1X, this new firmware provides feature enhancements for photographers and ability to use focus stacking photography with  ($649 at AmazonAdoramaB&HPhoto). Olympus 12-45mm f/4 PRO Lens Announced

Olympus has announced the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm f/4 PRO lens which is the world’s most compact and lightweight high-performance standard zoom lens fixed aperture.

This is one of the lenses of three that is announced in the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital Lens roadmap. The ultra-compact M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm F4.0 PRO lens has a filter size. The lens is remarkably compact; it’s 70mm (2.8″) long and weighs just 254 grams (9 ounces). It is also weather-sealed, to IPX1 standards.

Olympus Announces OM-D E-M1 Mark III With World’s Best IBIS System

Olympus introduced an update to the E-M1 line with the announcement of the OM-D E-M1 Mark III Mirrorless Camera.

The new micro four thirds camera takes a lot of the innovations that showed up in the company’s double-grip sports camera, the E-M1X, and fits them into a more compact and lightweight body. The new E-M1 Mark III comes with the world’s best image stabilisation system with 7.5 shutter speed steps of compensation.

More on the E-M1 Mark III features, the new model includes a 20.4 Megapixel Live MOS sensor, the world’s best image stabilization system with 7.5 shutter speed steps of compensation, 18fps maximum burst shooting with autofocus and DCI 4K/24p video capture.

According to the leaked Japanese prices the Olympus E-M1 Mark III body will cost $1,999 and the Olympus 12-45mm f/4 PRO lens price will stand at $699.

Patent : Olympus 8-24mm f/4 Lens

Olympus filed a new patent for a wide angle zoom lens in Japan. The patent application describes a Olympus 8-24mm f/4 lens designed for Micro Four Thirds system mirrorless cameras.

 will also be a pro-grade constant aperture lens for enthusiasts and professional photographers that need an ultra wide-angle zoom lens. It will be equivalent of 16-48mm in 35mm terms.

If becomes in mass production this Olympus 8-24mm f/4 lens would be an ideal choice for travel and landscape photography.

Olympus will allegedly announce the Olympus E-M1 III camera in mid-February if everything goes on schedule.

Although the company has been silent at CES 2020, the major event of January, Olympus to announce a new product in mid-February, before the CP+ 2020.
