Canon Unveils PowerShot Pick Concept Camera

Canon unveils AI-powered PowerShot PICK concept camera. The experimental PowerShot PICK camera can analyze a scene, identify people, track their faces and then, using artificial intelligence, determine the ideal moment to capture a photo.

Canon has launched a campaign on the Japanese crowdfunding site Makuake for an AI-powered camera, the PowerShot PICK. The campaign has proven to be highly successful, attracting nearly ¥100,000,000 in support. The goal was ¥1,000,000.

The PowerShot PICK uses a 1/2.3-inch 12MP CMOS image sensor. It comes with a 19-57mm equivalent zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F2.8. The PICK includes built-in image stabilization. Fujifilm has unveiled the X-E4 mirrorless camera with 26.1-megapixel X Trans CMOS 4 sensor. Designed in a more compact and lightweight body, the new rangefinder-style camera now has touchscreen that folds up or down by 180 degrees, allowing selfies or vlogging-style video shooting, a good replacement to the X-E3.

As for video, the Fujifilm X-E4 oversamples 6k footage to record 4K, 30p 4:2:0 8-bit video to internal media, or 4K, 30p 4:2:2 10-bit video via its built-in HDMI port. The Fujifilm X-E4 can also record high-speed full-HD video at 240fps for ultra-slow motion movies.

Rumor Update : New 8K Nikon Camera Coming in Spring with 46MP

So you probably asking what will be the impact of the new $6,500 Sony a1 camera on Nikon?  According to the recent reports, 8K Nikon camera will arrive this Spring/Summer, with advanced core specifications to compete against the Sony a1 and the possible Canon EOS R1. By the way the name of this Nikon flagship camera could be called Nikon Z1 and not the previously rumored Z9.

More information on 8K Nikon camera continues to come. Accordingly, it is among the leaked rumors that the mirrorless camera, which is expected to be positioned at a high level, will have a 46MP sensor. It is expected to have a new EXPEED processor that can shoot up to 20fps at full speed and can shoot 8K / 30p video. The camera will also feature advanced subject-detection AF, high-resolution non-dimming EVF, dual XQD / CFExpress card slots, Gigabit LAN, and the “new user interface”, but there are no other details shared at this point.

The body of the Nikon Z1 will look like a camera comprised of a Nikon D6-style body (possibly with a built-in handle), Canon EOS R5-level imaging capabilities, and Sony a9II-level autofocus.
