FUJIFILM firmware update – May 24, 2023

Many FUJIFILM cameras got new firmware updates that bring support for the newly launched XApp as well as some minor “setup menu setting functions” optimization. These cameras include the following models:

At X Summit BKK 2023 (see live blog here), Fujifilm has updated its range of mirrorless cameras with the introduction of the Fujifilm X-S20 and the new Fujifilm XF 8mm f/3.5 lens. In addition the company released firmware updates for 13 camera bodies for both GFX and X-Series models.

The    will be available from the end of June 2023 priced at $1299 while the  XF 8mm F3.5 Lens will be available for $799 at the same time.

The Canon EOS R5 C is now Netflix approved

Canon has announced its EOS R5 C mirrorless camera is now approved for Netflix productions, joining a long list of other Canon EOS cameras approved by the popular streaming service.

The Canon EOS R5 C joins the EOS C500 Mark II, EOS C300 Mark III, EOS C70, EOS C300 Mark II, EOS C700 FF, EOS C700, and EOS C500 cameras on Netflix’s approved camera list. Since Netflix is one of the largest providers of original video content, the ability to submit your project for the company’s consideration is key.

With the EOS R5 C Firmware Version 1.0.3.1 update, the full-frame, mirrorless R5 C gains improved Canon Log 3 image quality when shooting in XF-AVC or MP4 formats. This latest update also improves the overall image quality and camera operability.

Canon Firmware Updates Released for EOS R5 C, EOS C70, C500 Mark II, and C300 Mark III

Canon has released several new firmware updates for its Cinema lineup of cameras, including the EOS R5 C, EOS C70, EOS C300 Mark III, and EOS C500 Mark II.

Canon EOS R5 Rumored to Feature with “IBIS HIGH Resolution” 400MP Image via Major Firmware

As mentioned earlier, Canon will soon announce a new major firmware update for EOS R5. Now according to CR,  EOS R5 will have a new feature called “IBIS HIGH Resolution” via this major firmware update. With this feature, Canon EOS R5 can combine 9 shots to make a 400MP high resolution image.

Canon EOS R6 Firmware 1.8.1 Released (Fixes the 1.8.0)

Looks like there was a bug or two in the recently released v1.8.0 firmware for the Canon EOS R6. There was an issue with “Err 70” that has now been resolved. Canon swiftly released another, error-free firmware update with the Canon EOS R6 v1.8.1

Canon EOS R6 firmware 1.8.1 delivers the following:

This firmware includes the following enhancements and fixes:

  • You can now trim and resize images while transferring them to the FTP server.
  • After updating to firmware version 1.8.0, the phenomenon that Err70 occurred under certain conditions has been fixed.
  • Fixed minor bugs.
    • *1. and 3. are changes in Version 1.8.0, and 2. are additions in Version 1.8.1.

Concerning the previous firmware:

In firmware version 1.8.0, which had been stopped downloading, it was confirmed that Err70 etc. was displayed under certain conditions.
Customers who have already updated to Version 1.8.0 are kindly requested to update to Version 1.8.1. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
