Nikon Z50 Firmware Update Version 1.10 Released

As well as updating the two full-frame mirrorless cameras, Nikon has also introduced a firmware update for the Nikon Z50 which modifies the camera’s controls when recording self-portraits in movie mode.

Currently, when self-portraits are recorded in Movie mode, the focus mode is locked at AF-S mode. With the update to Ver. 1.10, the focus mode will be locked at AF-F mode. This change improves operation by allowing the camera to maintain focus on the user’s face in movie recording.

Nikon Z6 & Nikon Z7 Firmware Update Released with Animal-Detection AF

Nikon has released a new firmware update for the Nikon Z6 and Nikon Z7 full-frame mirrorless cameras.

Updating the Z6 and Z7 to firmware version 3.00 adds a new Animal-detection AF feature to the current Face/eye-detection AF. Subject tracking has also been modified to function more like the 3D-tracking feature in Nikon digital SLR cameras and support for additional CFexpress memory card brands has also been added. Check brands at Adorama, B&H, and Amazon in the US.

Nikon Unveils NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S & NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 Lenses

Today the Nikon D6 DSLR camera (B&H Photo/Adorama/Amazon), Nikon unveiled the NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S and NIKKOR Z 24-200mm lenses  with built-in stabilization.

Both Nikon Z-mount lenses are in the company’s roadmap. There will be a total of 23 Z-mount mirrorless lenses by 2021.

The US price for NIKKOR Z 20mm f/1.8 S lens is $1,049.95 at B&HPhoto/Adorama/Amazon., will be released in March, 2020. The US price NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 lens is $899.95 at B&HPhoto/Adorama/Amazon, will be released in April, 2020.

New Nikon D780 Trade-in Program Now Live in US

Nikon USA announced a new trade-in program where for a limited time you can get an additional $300 toward a Nikon D780 purchase in addition to the camera’s trade-in value. The new Nikon D780 Trade-in program launched and can be reached from the dedicated pages at Adorama and B&HPhoto.

The Nikon D780 is a replacement for one of the most well-rounded DSLRs ever made: the D750 (see comparison). The mid-range FX-format DSLR features a 24.5MP BSI-CMOS sensor – likely the same as in the Z6 – which features on-sensor phase detection. That means that in live view you’ll get dramatically improved autofocus compared to previous Nikon DSLRs, plus face and eye detection. When shooting through the viewfinder you’ll have a 51-point AF system backed with the higher-resolution metering sensor and algorithms from the D5. See official announcement.
