Olympus OM-D E-M1X Listed as Discontinued in Japan

The Olympus OM-D E-M1X Micro Four Thirds camera is now listed as discontinued at some Japanese stores. And some stores in other countries in Europe and the United States also seem to be discounting and clearing inventory. Maybe OM has plans to develop its successor.

On the other hand there are some talks about the successor to the E-M1X. Even it is too early to talk about but the possible E-M1X Mark II coming in the first months of 2022.

Canon EOS R100 to be Announced Next

Good news is that Canon is planning to announce another new APS-C format RF mount mirrorless camera. The product in question is the Canon EOS R100. According to recent reports Canon EOS R100 to be announced in next several weeks, probably in later this year.

The entry-level RF mount will be the third model in the APS-C mirrorless camera lineup after the EOS R7 and EOS R10.  It is said that the Canon EOS R100 seems to inherit the form factor of past “EOS M” cameras such as “EOS M6 Mark II“. According to latest Olympus rumors, the upcoming OM SYSTEM OM-5 mirrorless camera will be priced around $1599. This is not the final pricing yet, but OM Digital has told retailers that it could be this price.

In addition, a new OM SYSTEM lens will come along with this OM System OM-5 mirrorless camera.

Canon EOS R1 Rumored to be the King of Resolution

According to the latest Canon rumorsCanon EOS R1 announcement is planned for the second half of 2023. We might see teaser ads from the spring.

In terms of features, Canon EOS R1 will be a new king of resolution and it will focus on 8K video production. We have also heard that the EOS R1 is a step forward in form factor and ergonomics, combining what you would expect from Canon’s flagship camera with some new features. Canon has spent much of its development talking to photographers, especially pros using the EOS R3.

Until now, we had no idea what kind of camera the EOS R1 would be, but since information has come out that it will be the “king of resolution”, if this is true, it will be at least higher than the 61 million pixels of Sony a7R IV.
