The Sony Alpha 1, A1 (ILCE-1) is a high-end full-frame mirrorless camera that was officially announced on January 26th, 2021. It is the most technologically advanced, innovative camera that Sony has ever released. Featuring a 50MP Stacked BSI-CMOS sensor and in-body image stabilization, the a1 offers blackout-free shooting on its giant 9.44M-dot (240 fps) EVF at burst rates of up to 30 fps. It has Sony’s latest autofocus system, with fast processing and face/eye/animal detection. The electronic shutter is designed to eliminate flicker and offers a flash sync of 1/200 sec (it’s an impressive 1/400 sec with the mechanical shutter).

Sony a1 captures oversampled 8K/30p at a bit rate of 400Mbps as well as oversampled 4K at up to 120 fps. The camera can record 10-bit 4:2:2 video, and supports S-Cinetone, S-Log2/3, and HLG Log formats. 16-bit Raw recording to compatible external recorders is also available. The a1’s body is designed to allow 30 minutes of continuous 8K recording.

The Sony a1 is scheduled to start shipping on March 4, 2021, and it is expected to be one of the best selling mirrorless cameras in 2021. So, if you are interested or want to get as far to the front of the list as you can, you should probably go ahead and pre-order now. The Sony a1 preorders are now open at all the major stores in US.  The price of the Sony’s flagship camera is $6,498 and available at AmazonB&HAdorama.

The Alpha A1 is Sony’s most technologically advanced camera to date and combines high-resolution and high-speed performance. Sony A1 uses a brand new 50.1-megapixel full-frame stacked Exmor RS image sensor and can perform up to 120 AF/AE calculations per second. Like the a7S III, it can shoot 4K at up to 120p in 10-bit 4:2:2 quality.

Sony A1 Announced 50 MP at 30fps, 8K, Price : $6,498.00

Sony has announced the Sony A1, a new 50MP camera capable of shooting at 30 fps with no blackout. It is capable of recording 8K videos. Sony A1 uses a stacked CMOS sensor and a pair of new Bionz XR processors.

The US price is $6,498.00 and available for pre-order at B&HPhoto and Adorama. Shipping will start in March.

It uses the stacked CMOS sensor technology first seen in the a9 but takes it further, allowing silent, no-blackout images at up to 30 fps. The Sony A 1 has a 9.44 million dot OLED Quad-XGA electronic viewfinder, with a refresh rate of up to 240 fps, ensuring no blackout. The 9.44 million-dot (approx.), 0.64 type Quad-XGA high-definition OLED display and refined optics deliver the highest resolution in its class. It also offers 0.90x viewfinder magnification, a 41° diagonal FOV, and a 25mm-high eyepoint for clear, low distortion viewing from corner to corner. Sony is rumored to announce a New RX Camera with the World’s First Full Frame Curved Sensor on January 26. This Sony RX Camera will feature a lens that is faster than the Sony RX1R II (which has a Zeiss 35mm f/2.0 lens).

Sony Teases a Major Alpha Mirrorless Announcement on January 26th, A9 III?

Sony posted a new teaser on its Instagram account that they are getting ready to announce the first 8K mirrorless camera on January 26, 2021. Most people seem to be expecting an Alpha a9 III flagship mirrorless camera. This is what we have previously covered several times in our Sony Camera Rumors.

The new camera will shoot 8K30p, have a 50mp full-frame sensor and will be priced around $6000USD. It is expected to be named as an A9x series camera and not A7x. Could be either an A9 III or A9R. Anyway here are the rumored Sony A9III specs:

Canon and Sony Dominates the Japanese Market Sales

BCN Awards has released their camera and lens market share report for 2020 in Japan. BCN Ranking collects real sales data from approximately 40% of the Japanese retailers – this is not a worldwide report.

Also CAPA Camera announced the top-selling camera rankings for the second half of December 2020. The Canon EOS R5 wins the NO. 1 best selling camera, Sony a7C with 28-60mm lens kit was the second on the list while the Sony a7S III coming in third place.

Among the top 10, Sony has 5 models and Canon has 3. Both companies dominated the top 8 models and showed a good fight in that.
