New Firmware Update for the LUMIX S1R, S1H and S1 Cameras

In addition to the announcement of Panasonic Lumix S5, Panasonic has also announced that they will be releasing firmware update for its existing S-series of full-frame mirrorless cameras to enhance functions and usability by the end of 2020.

Panasonic S1R will be able to capture 5K video but the greatest significance is likely to be enhanced autofocus performance for the S1, S1R and S1H.

Panasonic says the firmware update will arrive by the end of 2020, and we have to say, we’re pleased to see significant updates making their way into the company’s existing cameras.

Panasonic Lumix S5 Full-Frame Camera Announced

Panasonic has announced the new, more compact, L-mount Panasonic Lumix S5.  The camera features a 24mp sensor, sensor-based image stabilisation (5/6.5 stops), a 3inch tilting vari-angle touch-screen, 2.36m dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 0.74x magnification. There’s also 4K 60fps video, Dual-ISO, plus high-speed FullHD video.

The camera comes with a new battery that gives up to 470 shots using the EVF, or up to 1500 shots with power save mode switched on. An optional battery grip is available, extending this to 940 / 3000 shots.

The Panasonic Lumix S5 will be available from the end of September at a price of $1999 for the body and $2299 when kitted with the 20-60mm F3.5-5.6 lens.

Canon is planning to announce the APS-C RF mount mirrorless camera in the second half of 2021, which was initially slated to be announced in early 2021.

We have not much information about the Canon RF-Mount APS-C Mirrorless Camera and it’s too early to talk about it. However it is not going to be an entry-level product, but a higher margin camera built around speed and a smaller footprint than the Canon EOS R5 and Canon EOS R6. Sony is planning to announce a new entry level full frame mirrorless camera called “Sony a7C” in mid September 2020.

Designed for YouToubers and vloggers in mind the Sony a7C will offer video-centric specs mainly similar to the Sony a7III. However the body design of the Sony Alpha a7C will be like the A6600.

New Sony a7S III Tests and Reviews
