In addition to the newly announced FE 35mm f/1.4 and Sony is on the verge to announce three new compact G lenses next week (on March 23th?):

  • Sony FE 24mm f/2.8 G Lens
  • Sony FE 40mm f/2.5 G Lens
  • Sony FE 50mm f/2.5 G Lens

These Sony’s three G lenses have a relatively small aperture of F2.5 to F2.8, and can be used as pancake lenses, but since they are G lenses, will they maintain a certain size with an emphasis on optical performance.

7Artisans has introduced a new 7.5mm F2.8 Mark II fisheye lens for APS mirrorless and Micro Four Thirds cameras. The new lens comes offers a whopping 190° field of view (on 1.5x APS-C) and comes in five different mounts.

The 7artisans 7.5mm F2.8 Mark II Fisheye lens is available to buy now for $139 in Sony E, Fuji X, Nikon Z and Micro Four Thirds mounts.

The manual focus lens is comprised of 11 elements in 9 groups to provide that wide f/2.8 maximum aperture, with a 7-blade diaphragm. They say that two HOYA Ultra-low Dispersion elements help to improve colour and contrast across the 190° field of view.

Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM Lens Announced, Price $1,998

is a creator’s dream, with an F1.2 maximum aperture that not only allows shooting in a wider range of lighting conditions, but also provides an extraordinary combination of high resolution, luscious G Master (GM) bokeh, and blazing autofocus. The Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM lens is now officially announced. The US price is $1,998, and it is now available for pre-order at B&HPhoto. Adorama and Amazon.

This is the 60th lens in Sony E mount lineup and the new ultra fast prime competes with the already excellent Canon RF 50mm f/1.2L USM and Nikon NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.2 S  optics. The lens gives photographers an extra 1/2-stop of light in a body the same size and weight as the Zeiss 50mm f/1.4. Primoplan 58mm F1.9 II Lens for Canon EF, Nikon F, MFT, Pentax K, Sony E, Fuji X, Leica M & L

The Meyer-Optik Gorlitz brand has expanded its range with a new full frame lens – the Primoplan 58mm F1.9 II. As expected, this new lens has been released for various mounts: Canon EF, Nikon F, M42, Pentax K, Sony E, Fujifilm X, Leica L, Leica M, as well as Micro Four Thirds.

The Primoplan 58mm F1.9 II lens is marketed by the manufacturer as a “reborn” version of the original lens, developed by Meyer-Optik designer Paul Schefter 80 years ago. Then this lens became popular due to the extremely high aperture for that time, as well as the ability to create a wide range of bokeh effects – from swirling to “creamy” with small details in a blur.

The manufacturer focuses on the quality of the optics assembly, high-quality color reproduction with high sharpness of the image, and, of course, on the possibility of creating an expressive bokeh effect (see sample images on the Primoplan 58mm f/1.9 II).

Sony Notice to The Owners of FE 35mm f/1.4 GM Lens

As you remember, we have announced in previous articles that there will be a delay in the delivery of the Sony 35mm f/1.4 GM lens. A notice letter explaining the reason for this was submitted by Sony.

According to this, Sony Hong Kong notified that the early batch of lenses may have an issue with the ornament plate. Those lenses will now be repaired for free.
