Nikon Updates Its NX Field Remote Shooting System

Nikon has released an updated version of the NX Field remote shooting system for professional imaging agencies. The software update will further support the capabilities of the Nikon Z9 Nikon FX-format/full-frame mirrorless camera.

The Ver 1.2.0 update will enable Z9 users to easily detect nine subject types. This covers a range of subjects including people, dogs, cats, birds, bicycles, motorcycles, cars, trains, and airplanes enabling more accurate subject capture, even via remote operation. In addition, the update supports the Z9’s High-Speed Frame Capture+ feature.

[Benefits of the update]

  • ・It adds the “False color” function where the exposure status on the screen is displayed in different colors, allowing users to easily see the exposure status of any part of the frame.
  • ・It adds the “Focus Ring Control” function that allows users to change the movement of the focus ring to either linear or nonlinear.
  • ・It adds the “STILL / CINE Link Settings” function that allows users to select whether or not they want to link key exposure settings between STILL and CINE modes.
  • ・It allows the “Screenshot” and “False color” functions to be assigned to “Custom button functions”.
  • ・It changes the specification so that the countdown before a shot in self-timer mode (2 seconds and 10 seconds), and the exposure time for long exposures (bulb shooting and exposures of 1 second or longer) are displayed on screen.
  • ・It adds a function available in STILL mode where information from the attached lens (focal length and shooting distance) can be displayed on screen.
  • ・It adds a “Clip Numbering” function in CINE mode that allows users to change the clip numbering of the “File name / Number” in the “SYSTEM” menu.

【For Blackmagic Design Video Assist 12G Series users】Blackmagic RAW recording using the HDMI output of SIGMA fp updated to Ver.4.00 may not perform correctly without updating the Video Assist firmware. This issue has been corrected in the “Video Assist 3.5.2 Update” released by Blackmagic Design Pty Ltd on February 16, 2022, so please update your software accordingly.

Nikon Z9 v2.0, Z6II v1.40 and Z7II v1.40 Firmware Updates Released

Nikon released new firmware updates for the Z9 flagship mirrorless camera as well as the Z6 II and Z7 II.

As promised for April 20th, Nikon released major firmware updates for the Nikon Z6II (v1.40), Nikon Z7II (v1.40), and Nikon Z9 (v2.0). Firmware v.2.0 for the Z9 brings high-performance updates while firmware v.1.4 for the Z6 II and Z7 II improves focusing for stills and video.

New OM System 40-150mm f/4 PRO Lens Reviews

Here are the first reviews of the OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/4 PRO Lens.

The OM System 40-150mm F4.0 PRO is a weather-sealed telephoto zoom lens that offers an 80-300mm full-frame equivalent field of view. The lens is IP53 rated for dust- and splash-resistance when paired with a weather sealed camera, such as OM System’s new OM-1 Micro Four Thirds camera. It’s constructed of 15 elements in nine groups, uses a seven-blade circular aperture diaphragm and has a minimum focusing distance of 70cm (27.5″). The lens’ autofocus (AF) is driven via OM Systems’ Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) system, which OM Systems claims ‘benefits both photo and video applications due to its smooth, quiet, and fast performance.’
