Panasonic MFT Talk: Revolutionary zoom, Fast Primes and GH6 Coming

During their CP+ event, Panasonic executives confirmed that they are considering revolutionary new zoom and prime lenses for the GH5 successor camera (Panasonic GH6).

Panasonic is rumored to announce the Lumix GH6 Micro Four Thirds camera sometime in 2021. Earlier Panasonic rumors claims that there will be three models GH6V, GH6 and GH6X. Below some highlights from the presentations and the video.

  • We are also considering to make a “Revolutionary” new zoom lenses and new fast single focus lenses for Micro Four Thirds.
    • The “GH5 successor” has become a hot topic, but we are steadily considering it.

Sigma Confirms New DG DN Sports Lenses in Development

During the CP+ event Sigma streamed a new chat video. In this CP+ presentation Sigma confirmed that a new DG DN Sports lens is currently in the final stage of development.

On February 26, Yasuhiro Osone, general manager of Sigma’s product planning department, stated that the new DG DN | Sports full-frame mirrorless telephoto lens is under development. Our guess is this “DG DN” Sports zoom lens could be the 70-200mm f/2.8 that was rumored for some time. More details about the New Sigma DG DN Sports Lenses after the break!

New Canon EOS R5 Firmware V1.30 to be Announced Soon

According to the latest reports, the new firmware update version 1.30 for Canon EOS R5 camera to be released in April 2021.

The firmware update version 1.30 will bring Canon Cinema RAW light, C-Log 3 & 1080p @ 120fps to the Canon EOS R5. The new EOS R5 firmware update is said to be already installed on select cameras and getting tested in beta version (i.e. not ready for release).

Both the Canon EOS R5 and the EOS R6 are super hot selling mirrorless cameras on the market. Canon EOS R5 in stock. The camera body and lens kit are now in stock at all the major US stores.

Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM Lens to be Announced Soon

It is among the leaked information that Sony will soon announce its 50mm lens with f/1.2 fast aperture for full-frame mirrorless cameras. Accordingly, we can say that the next GM-series lens will be  (SEL50F12 GM). Designed for Sony full frame mirrorless cameras, the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM lens  will be officially announced on March 16th, 2021.

Sony G Master (GM) lenses are the company’s high-end lenses that sit above its ‘G-series’ lenses with a premium price. These Sony lenses feature dust and moisture resistance, and also dedicated control buttons like AF/MF and Focus Hold is ergonomically useful. Confirmed : New Nikon Cameras Coming in 2021

Nikon did not introduce any new products at the 2021 CP+ event, but the company’s general manager, Mr. Satoshi Yamazaki was confirmed in the interview that we will meet the new Nikon products in 2021.

So you probably asking What is Nikon planning to compete against the rivals Canon and Sony? The impact of the new $6,500 Sony a1 camera is huge and there is also the amazing Canon EOS R5. We can expect Nikon to release Nikon Z8Z9Z1 cameras to compete with Sony a1Canon EOS R5Sony a7S III and more.

Ricoh Updates HD Pentax-FA 31mm f/1.8, 43mm f/1.9, 77mm f/1.8 Limited Lenses

Ricoh officially announced three new Pentax HD PENTAX-FA limited lenses for PENTAX K-mount DSLR cameras. These lenses are the HD Pentax-FA 31mm F1.8 Limited lensHD Pentax-FA 43mm F1.9 Limited lens and HD Pentax-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited lens.

Three new Pentax HD PENTAX-FA limited lenses are now available for pre-order at B&HAdorama. Shipping is scheduled to start in April 2021.

Nikon Z6 II/Z7 II Firmware Update 1.10 Released, Improved EyeAF & Z6II gets 4K60p

Nikon has rleeased a new firmware update version 1.10 for its Z6 II and Z7 II full frame mirrorless cameras. Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II Firmware Update 1.10 is now available for download. Both full frame mirrorless cameras benefits from Improved EyeAF and the Z6 II gets support for 4K UHD 60p.

This Firmware Update 1.10 improves the performance of Eye-Detection AF on the Z7 II & Z6 II, and enables additional recording formats and video workflows when shooting with the Z6 II.

Pre-order : Sony FX3 Cinema E-mount Camera

Now you can pre-order the new Sony FX3 cinema E-mount camera at major US stores: Adorama | B&H | Amazon.

The Sony FX3 is built around the same 12MP full-frame BSI-CMOS sensor as the a7S III and promises the same UHD 4K capabilities, including 60p capture from the full sensor width and 4K/120p with a slight crop. It offers the same choice of bitrates and codecs as the a7S III, meaning 10-bit 4:2:2 in a choice of XAVC HS (H.265) or XAVC S (H.264) with matching bitrates. It can also shoot XAVC S-I, an All-I H.264 format. It doesn’t have the DCI (1.89:1 ratio) options of the FX6.

The FX3 powered by the well-known Sony NPFZ 100 batteries used on cameras like the A7 IIIA7R IIIAlpha a6600, and A9 II.

World’s Lightest Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary Lens Announced

Sigma has announced a new Contemporary-series full-frame mirrorless zoom lens, the .  The US price is $899 and it is now available for pre-order at  B&H Photo / Amazon and Adorama. Shipping is scheduled to start on March 12, 2021.

Available in Sony E and Leica L mounts, the 28-70mm f/2.8 DG DN C lens is based on Sigma’s existing 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN Art lens, but starting the new zoom’s focal length at 28mm results in a significantly smaller and lighter lens without sacrificing optical performance. It will compete against the Tamron 28-75mm FE. Normal-length zoom lens is designed for Sony Full Frame E-Mount cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides an 42mm – 105 equivalent focal length.
