Panasonic announces Leica DG Summilux 9mm F1.7 lens for Micro Four Thirds

Panasonic has announced the Leica DG Summilux 9mm F1.7 lens for Micro Four Thirds camera systems.

This 18mm full-frame equivalent ultra-wide-angle lens is constructed of 12 elements in nine groups, including two aspherical elements, two extra-low dispersion (ED) elements and one Ultra High Refractive Index (UHR) element. Other features include a seven-blade aperture diaphragm, a minimum focusing distance of 9.5cm (3.7”) with a 0.25x maximum magnification ratio and a 55mm front filter thread. The lens measures 52mm (2”) long by 61mm (2.4”) in diameter and weighs 130g (4.6oz).

Laowa FF II 90mm f/2.8 CA-Dreamer 2X Lens specs leaked

Laowa FF II 90mm f/2.8 CA-Dreamer 2X Lens specs have been leaked online.

Venus Optics will announce the new Laowa FF II 90mm f/2.8 CA-Dreamer 2X Lens for Sony E mount, Canon RF, Nikon Z, Leica L mounts. The officiall announcement will be on May 23, 2022.

New MFT Cameras to be Announced in 2022

According to recent reports, there will be new MFT cameras coming in 2022.  The products on the horizon are Panasonic G9 Mark II  and Olympus E-M5 Mark IV.

After the big announcements of Olympus OM-1 and Panasonic GH6, some people may be worried that the release of the new Micro Four Thirds products may have entered a very slow and boring period.

But there will be more new MFT cameras announced in 2022. We’re collecting detailed information on those new models, but if  Panasonic Lumix GH6 (B&H, Adorama) and OM SYSTEM OM-1 ($2,199.99 USD at B&HPhoto and Adorama) are too expensive for you, you should wait for the next camera.

We don’t know if it’s Panasonic, OM-D’S, or both, but it seems likely that some kind of Micro Four Thirds camera will come out later this year. Even the details of the new model is unknown at the moment, it seems that we may expect the successor to Panasonic G9  and  Olympus E-M5 Mark III.

Panasonic released the new firmware Ver.1.2 for the Panasonic Lumix DC-GH6 (Amazon, B&H, Adorama).  This new camera is now in stock and shipping in most US stores.

Panasonic GH6 Firmware Version 1.2

  1. There were cases where magenta or green cast was seen on the live view image during photo shooting/video recording. This bug has been fixed.
  2. When recording video in [5.7K/5.8K] with a wide-angle lens and the [E-Stabilization(Video)] is set to ON, there were cases where particular part of the image frames were vertically shifted throughout the footage depending on the focal length. This bug has been fixed.

New Firmware Ver.1.1 for Panasonic GH6 Released

Panasonic released the new firmware Ver.1.1 for the newly released Panasonic Lumix DC-GH6 (Amazon, B&H, Adorama).  This new camera is now in stock and shipping in most US stores.

  1. When a RAW image shot in High Resolution mode was developed using RAW development software, there were cases where false color occurred in the developed image. This issue has been resolved.

Panasonic GH6 in Short Supply

According to the Panasonic.jp, the newly announced Panasonic Lumix DC-GH6 is now in short supply.

Panasonic GH6 is scheduled to be released on March 15, they have received reservations that greatly exceeded their expectations, so some customers who have already made reservations may not be delivered on the day of release.

A few days ago, there was information that OM-1 had more orders than expected, but since there was an announcement of supply shortage for GH6, it seems that there are quite a few orders.

Panasonic GH6 has become a more professional-oriented camera, with a larger body and a cooling fan, so we are wondering if there would be so many, but like the OM-1, this is also a good start.
