Canon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM & RF 50mm f/1.8 STM Lenses Announced

Canon has announced two new RF lenses, including the   Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM “nifty fifty” and Canon RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM telephoto zoom.

These lenses are now available in RF-mount, with the 50mm f/1.8 STM being priced at $199. The RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens will be available for $1,599.

Portable travel companion

New Venus Optics Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift Lens for Mirrorless Cameras

Venus Optics officially announced the Laowa 15mm f/4.5 Zero-D Shift Lens – the World’s Widest Shift lens for full frame cameras and medium format cameras.

Available in Canon EF, Nikon F, Canon RF, Nikon Z, and Sony FE mounts the lens is constructed of 17 elements in 11 groups, including two aspherical elements and a new lens coating. It has a 110-degree angle of view, offers a 65mm image circle and can shift +/-11mm on full-frame camera systems (+/-8mm when adapted for medium format cameras, such as Fujifilm GFX and Hasselblad X1D cameras).

The Laowa 15mm F4.5 Zero-D Shift is available to pre-order today for Canon EF, RF, Nikon F, Nikon Z and full-frame Sony E-mount camera systems for $1,199 on Venus Optics’ website. The Canon EF and Nikon F mount versions will be available in late November 2020, while the Canon RF, Nikon Z and full-frame Sony E-mount versions won’t be available until February 2021. Zeiss ZX1 Camera Announced, Price $6K

Zeiss finally announced the Zeiss ZX1 Full Frame Mirrorless Camera. The US price is $6,000. The US price is $6,000.  Zeiss ZX1 Camera: $6,000 at B&H and Adorama.

New Pentax K-3 III DSLR Coming With ISO 1.6 Million, Price Around $1,999

Ricoh has released more details on the next DSLR, Pentax K-3 III. The camera has been in development and with this announcement the name is confirmed as the K-3 III, plus pricing information and expected release date.

So what we know about the new Pentax K-3 III is its product name confirmation. The launch target is around the period of the CP+ camera exhibition, which will be held from February 25 to 28 in 2021.

DJI Pocket 2 Gimbal Camera Announced

The DJI Pocket 2 Gimbal Camera is now officially announced. The updated camera drops the Osmo nomenclature its predecessor bore and improves its performance across the board. Despite keeping its compact size, weighing just 117g (4.2oz), the Pocket 2 has a larger sensor and wider lens than the Osmo Pocket, which DJI claims has dramatically improve image quality for both photos and video.

The US price is $349, with a Creator Combo for $499. Shipping will begin on November 1, 2020.

Updated Fujifilm X-mount Lens Roadmap (XF 18mm f/1.4 & XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 OIS)

Along with the Fujifilm X-S10 camera and Fujinon XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR lens., Fujifilm also announced the latest development roadmap for interchangeable lenses for the X Series of compact and lightweight mirrorless cameras.

The latest roadmap shows the addition of two new lenses, a large-diameter wide angle prime lens and a telephoto zoom lens. These would be the XF 18mm f/1.4 lens and XF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 OIS lens. Fujifilm Introduces Fujinon XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR Lens

In addition to the Fujifilm X-S10 camera, Fuji also announced the Fujinon XF 10-24mm f/4 R OIS WR lens. The optical layout is just the same, but the new lens boasts slimmer zoom and focus rings, better stabilisation and a new, marked aperture dial.

Covering an equivalent focal length range of 15-36mm in full-frame terms, the XF 10-24mm F4 R OIS WR is a high-quality wide-angle option for Fujifilm X-series shooters. Now featuring weather-resistance, the new lens should be a better companion for the similarly tough X-T4 and X-T3.

Despite the sealing, the new lens is very slightly lighter than its predecessor (by 25g / 0.9oz) and optical image stabilization has been improved by one stop, bringing the total stabilizing effect to a rated 3.5EV (CIPA). When combined with the in-camera IBIS system of the X-T4, total stabilization increases to 6.5EV.
