Canon Firmware Updates Released for EOS R5 C, EOS C70, C500 Mark II, and C300 Mark III

Canon has released several new firmware updates for its Cinema lineup of cameras, including the EOS R5 C, EOS C70, EOS C300 Mark III, and EOS C500 Mark II.

While these firmware updates are not significant, all cameras will benefit from Auto Focus improvements and more lens support. Officially Announced: New Sigma 17mm f/4, 50mm f/2 and 23mm f/1.4 lenses

Sigma has added three lenses to its line-up. The Sigma 17mm F4 DG DN and a 50mm F2 DG DN compact, mid-priced ‘I Series’ primes as part of its Contemporary range and a 23mm F1.4 DC DN for APS-C Sony E, Fujifilm X & Leica L-mounts.

All these three lenses will be officially released in late April 2023.

Sony ZV-E1 Price, Specs, Release Date Announced

Sony has announced the ZV-E1, a new full-frame interchangeable lens mirrorless camera which uses the same 12MP sensor as the Sony Alpha A7S III.  It’s a camera with the sophisticated selfie mics and face-the-camera approach of the existing ZV models but one that shares many of its internals with the Sony a7S III and FX3.

The new ZV-E1 will be available in May 2023 at a variety of Sony’s authorized dealers, for an estimated retail price of $2,199.99 USD and $2,999.99 CAN. Preorders in US available at B&HphotoAmazonAdorama.

Sony ZV-E1 Key Features Leaked, to be Announced on March 29

Sony ZV-E1 camera is coming very soon. According to latest rumors it will be officially announced on March 29, 2023.

We are told that the AF performance is based on the current Sony a7R V and the subject recognition is even better, it may be the top performance of Sony machines in terms of subject recognition AF.

Leica Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400mm F/5-6.3 Telephoto Zoom Lens and 1.4x Extender

Leica has announced the Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400mm F5-6.3, a telephoto zoom lens for L-mount. Also announced a 1.4x teleconverter that’s compatible with the lens to deliver a combination that extends to 560mm F9.

The new lens costs $2,195, first available for pre-order at B&HAdorama. Along with Leica Vario-Elmar-SL 100-400mm F5-6.3 lens, Leica also announced Extender L 1.4x for this new lens. It costs $875, first available for Pre-Order at B&HAdorama.

Sony ZV-E1 Camera to be Announced on March 29

According to the latest rumors, Sony’s first full-frame E-mount Blogger focused camera will be announced on March 29, the name of the camera is “ZV-E1.

Sony ZV-E1 Rumored Specs:

  • New ZV-E1 E-mount camera is based on the Sony a7S III
  • The Sony ZV-E1 body is a mix between the FX3 and a7C.
  • The autofocus is from the Sony a7R V
  • 4k60 & 4k 120 (no crop), 4k120 will NOT be launch at first, will come with firmware update after the summer
  • no pixel binning
  • 409k ISO
  • Cheaper than the a7s III (now over 3000 dollars/Euro)

The new Sony ZV-E1 body will be a mix of the FX3 and the a7C, and if the AF is based on the a7R V, it is possible that the new ZV-E1 will be equipped with an AI chip, which will take its performance to a whole new level.

In terms of video capabilities, the ZV-E1 is expected to offer 4K60 and 4K120 without any crop, which is a significant improvement over the a7S III. However, it is worth noting that the 4K120 feature will not be available at launch and will be released via a firmware update after the summer.

Samyang AF 75mm F1.8 APS-C Lens for Fujifilm X mount

Samyang has just officially announced the new Samyang 75mm AF 75mm f/1.8  for Fujifilm X mount. It is a very lightweight and compact lens, which gives you a field of view of around 21,9° with a minimum focusing distance of only 69cm. This is the second X mount AF lens after the Samyang AF 12mm f/2 X.

Sigma Announces Trio of Nikon Z Mount Primes for APS-C Cameras

Sigma has announced three new primes for Nikon Z APS-C cameras: Sigma 16mm F1.4 / 30mm F1.4/ 56mm F1.4 DC DN Contemporary Lens. They are now listed at B&H.

All the new primes have bright, f/1.4 maximum apertures with compact builds with 35mm equivalent focal lengths of 24mm, 45mm, and 84mm, respectively.

Three F1.4 prime lenses (16mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, 30mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary, 56mm F1.4 DC DN | Contemporary), which are currently available in five mounts (Sony E-mount, Canon EF-M mount, FUJIFILM X Mount, Micro Four Thirds mount and L-Mount) will be simultaneously released in Z Mount.

Tamron unveils 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD for Fujifilm X-mount

Tamron has announced an 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD, a new wide-angle zoom lens for Fujifilm X-mount cameras with a release date set for spring 2023.

The 11-20mm lens gives a 16.5-30mm equivalent range on an X-series camera, providing a faster alternative to Fujifilm’s own XF10-24mm F4 OIS WR though not going as wide as the XF8-16mm F2.8 WR.

The Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD allows a minimum focusing distance of 0.15m and a maximum magnification of 1:4, allowing users to shoot wide-angle macro shots.

Also on board the Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD is the company’s Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive (RXD), which enables quiet performance when filming video.

Key details of the Tamron 11-20mm F2.8 Di III-A RXD for Fujifilm X-mount:

  • Ultra-wide angle zoom lens with F2.8 aperture
  • RXD stepping motor drive for silent stills and video shooting
  • MOD of 0.15m (5.9in) at 11mm focal length
  • Waterproof construction and fluorine coating

Other features include a Fluorine Coating and a moisture-resistant construction.

The Tamron 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD price tag will be revealed at a later date, the company says. Tamron started releasing FUJIFILM X-Mount lenses in 2021, and it seems like for now, the company is focusing on producing zoom lenses. Last year, the Tamron 17-70mm F/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD was launched, an affordable and versatile piece of glass with built-in image stabilization. It is now listed at B&HPhoto.

Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM Lens Announced, Priced $1,298

Sony has officially announced the new Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM lens. It is designed with sophisticated elements and advanced optics and the latest lens technology, offering uncompromising image quality for still and video shooting.

The Sony FE 50mm F1.4 GM is a brand new fast standard prime lens for Sony Alpha full-frame and APS-C cameras. This is the second 50mm F1.4 E-mount lens that Sony have released, the first being the 7-year-old Sony Planar T* FE 50mm F1.4 ZA.

The US price of the new compact and portable standard prime is $1,299, release date is in late April to early May. Check availability at B&HPhoto /Adorama/Amazon.
