According to an anonymous source, Canon plans to announce the “RF 24-105mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens” lens in the first half of 2023. This rumor has been around for a while and is gaining more and more attention every day.

The photography industry is brimming with excitement as Canon hints at its products to be released in 2023. While this rumor is only CR1, meaning it’s not very convincing, many photographers are still excited about the possibility of this lens becoming reality.

Since Canon already has three zoom lenses with overlapping focal lengths, some questioned the need for a fourth lens in the same category. However rumors suggest that Canon may have some tricks to set this lens apart from its peers. While it’s unclear what these tricks might be, we can hope Canon has something special prepared for their loyal customers.

There is a lot of overlap at this focal length with the RF 24-70mm F2.8L ISRF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM and RF 24-105mm F4L IS, so adding a fourth lens here is unlikely.

The Canon RF 24-105mm f/4-7.1 STM is a budget lens for the EOS R system especially an ideal companion for the smaller EOS RP.

The US price is $399.99 and it is now available at B&HAdoramaAmazon. The compact size at 88.8mm (3.5″) long and lightweight build at 13.9oz (395g) makes the lens.

Key features:

  • RF-Mount Lens/Full-Frame Format
  • STM Stepping AF Motor
  • Center Macro Focus, 1:2 Magnification
  • Optical Image Stabilizer
  • Customizable Control Ring
  • Rounded 7-Blade Diaphragm

    1. No. There is a converter to use EF lenses on R bodies, but no converter to use RF lenses on DSLR bodies.
