First Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV Reviews

First Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV reviews started to surface on the web. We’ve tried to cover the latest reviews, sample images and hands-on videos of the E-M10 IV.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV is the entry-level model in the company’s Micro Four Thirds cameras. It’s a step up from the beginner-focused E-PL series, offering more controls, better build quality and a broader feature set. It sports a 20MP Four Thirds sensor, in-body image stabilization, flip-down touchscreen with a simple interface and 4K video capture.

From AmateurPhotographer review :

Ironically, though, one group of potential buyers that the Mark IV probably won’t satisfy is expert E-M10 II owners looking to upgrade to a 20MP sensor. Olympus has stripped away a lot of features in the meantime, and produced a rather different camera. Presumably the firm would prefer these users to buy an E-M5 III. Overall though, the baby OM-D again becomes one of our top picks for budding photographers looking to buy their first ‘serious’ camera.

Pros:

  • + Excellent JPEG image quality with extremely attractive colours
  • + Stylish design and well laid-out, tactile controls make it a pleasure to use
  • + Extremely effective in-body stabilisation keeps pictures sharp
  • + Good set of useful advanced features
  • + Supported by fine set of small, affordable lenses

Cons:

  • – Raw image quality lags behind APS-C peers
  • – Below-camera selfie screen incompatible with tripod use
  • – No microphone socket for video or vlogging
