Nikon Z8 Rumored to Feature Sony A7R IV’s 60MP Sensor

Nikon D880 to be Announced on 2020, First Specifications

As you might remember Nikon has signed up to purchase the new Sony 61MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor. The 61MP back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor showed itself on the newly announced Sony a7R IV mirrorless camera.

The rumor mill claims that the IMX455 Sony 61MP sensor will be on the next Nikon full frame mirrorless camera. Possible candidate for this sensor is the Nikon Z8.  

The Sony IMX455AQR sensor features 60MP, 8k video, and offers native 64 ISO. It’s being said that the Sony 60MP sensor PDAF is supposed to be better than the Multi-CAM 20000 currently used in some Nikon cameras. See Sony A7R IV specifications.
