Sony Working on 34MP Micro Four Thirds Sensor

Sony is rumored to be working on a new high-resolution 34MP image sensor for Micro Four Thirds system cameras.

This is also the perfect sensor resolution for 8K video recordings. So this could be another sensor for a possible video-centric Micro Four Thirds device.

We see 8k resolution usually as 7680×4320 in 16:9 aspect ratio.
This makes the sensor to be around 33.18MP to offer these values.

On the other hand we know that Olympus is working on global shutter mechanism. So let’s hope both this 34MP MFT sensor and global shutter fits in another high-end Olympus camera like the OM-D E-M1X  ($2,999 – Adorama | B&H | Amazon) .
