Sony a9 II Camera Rumored to Feature 36MP Sensor (IMX311)

Sony a9 II is rumored to be announced in mid or late October, 2019, just ahead of PhotoPlus EXPO on October 24th-26th. The Mark II version of high-speed full frame mirrorless camera is expected to feature a 36MP BSI stacked sensor.

The Sony a9 mirrorless camera is now $1000 off at AmazonB&HAdorama for $3,498.

Seven new Sony sensors were in development ranging from 15-102MP (IMX311, IMX313, IMX409, IMX410, IMX521, IMX554, IMX555).

Apart from these high-resolution 8K ready sensors, we already know that Sony used the 60MP sensor on the Sony A7R IV and we believe that 36MP BSI stacked sensor will also be used on the A9 II.

IMX311 has a 45-degree diagonal pixel array with BSI and stacked design, it can output 96MP/24MP RGB RAW stream

The 36MP sensor is a FAST sensor with chip-on AF, perfect for sporting at high continuous shooting speeds. So the company will most likely use it on the Sony A9 II.
